plyr:Tools for Splitting, Applying and Combining Data
A set of tools that solves a common set of problems: you need to break a big problem down into manageable pieces, operate on each piece and then put all the pieces back together. For example, you might want to fit a model to each spatial location or time point in your study, summarise data by panels or collapse high-dimensional arrays to simpler summary statistics. Comfortable ways to work with hyperspectral data sets, i.e. spatially or time-resolved spectra, or spectra with any other kind of information associated with each of the spectra. The spectra can be data as obtained in XRF, UV/VIS, Fluorescence, AES, NIR, IR, Raman, NMR, MS, etc. More generally, any data that is recorded over a discretized variable, e.g. absorbance = f(wavelength), stored as a vector of absorbance values for discrete wavelengths is suitable.
